Baby Food Taste Test Party Game

You feed your babies this stuff, but have you ever tasted it? Bet you can't tell one flavor from another! (Is that a cat food?!)

Materials Needed:

  • 8 jars of various baby foods (meat, fruit, vegetables, and cereals)
  • Foil
  • Felt-tip pen
  • Paper plates and plastic spoons, 1 for each player
  • Paper
  • Pencils, 1 for each player

You can play this one of the best baby shower games for 30 minutes or more.

How to Play:

1. Cover the labels of the baby-food jars with foil, and write a number on the side of each jar with a felt-tip pen: Jar 1, Jar 2, and so on.

2. Give each player a paper plate, spoon, sheet of paper, and pencil.

3. Ask the players to draw eight circles on their plate and to label each with a number just outside the circle.

4. Pass around Jar 1, and have the players spoon out a small amount into Circle 1. Repeat with the other seven jars until all the circles are full.

5. When everyone is served, the players must taste the globs of food, then write down what they think each food is.

6. When all the players have guessed, peel off the foil to reveal the flavors.

7. Award a prize to the player with the best taste buds.

Variation:

Have the players guess the flavor by simply smelling the baby food. Or have half the players close their eyes, and have the other half feed them the baby food, so they can't see the color. Then switch sides, and have the feeders close their eyes, so everyone has a chance to taste.

How To Play:

1. Find a current book or article on child development for your source of game questions. Be sure your information is up-to-date. Include such questions as "When should a baby begins solid foods?" "What is the best toy for a baby?" "Can babies see color or just black and white when they are born?" "Why do babies sleep when the vacuum is running?" Choose generally accepted baby facts, not topics that are under debate.

2. Write the questions on index cards and place them in a pile. Write the answers on a separate sheet of paper.

3. Distribute paper and pencils.

4. Have a player draw a card and read the question to the group.

5. Tell all the players to write down an answer to the question. (Encourage the players to write funny answers in addition to the real answers.)

6. Repeat until all the questions have been read and answered. Read the questions again, this time allowing players to answer aloud. Then read the correct answer. Give a point for each correct answer.

7. Reward a prize to the player with the most points.

Variation:

Play the game using pet-related questions instead of child-related questions if you want it to play during occasions other than a baby shower party.

Best Baby Shower Games: Diaper Bag

This is an excellent game for expecting couples, but you can change it to any group. Just let their fingers do the guessing.

Enjoy this one of the Best Baby Shower Games for 30 minutes.

Materials Needed:

  • 10 double paper bags
  • 10 baby items, such as teething ring, diaper, pacifier, bottle. bib, baby powder, and so on.
  • Stapler or tape
  • Felt-tip pen
  • Paper
  • Pencils, 1 for each player

How to play:

1. Place a baby item in a double paper bag. Fold the top over, and staple or tape it closed.

2. Do it again for the remaining items, one baby item per double bag.

3. Number the bags from 1 to 10 on the outside with the pen.

4. Have the participants sit in a circle. Give out paper and pencils. Tell the players to write numbers from 1 to 10 down the left side of their paper.

5. Pass bag 1 around the circle, one player at a time, and allow each player to feel the item through the bag(not inside). Ask the players to write next to number 1 on their paper what they think is inside the bag.

6. Repeat with the other 9 bags, one at a time.

7. When finished, hold up bag 1 and ask everyone to read their answers. Open the bag and reveal the contents to see who is correct. Repeat for the rest of the bags.

8. Award a prize to the person with the most correct answers.

Variation:

Instead of using baby items, match the items to your party theme. For a cooking party, place kitchen items in the bags. For a mystery party, use mystery items.

Best Baby Shower Games: Birth Write

This is a fantastic baby shower game, but it's fun at any time you want to know how your pals came out into the world! It's a great time to know more about them in a funny way.

Materials Required:
  • Paper
  • Pencils
You can play and enjoy this game for 30 minutes.

How to Play:

1. Prior to the party day, contact your friends and ask them to create a one-page description of their births. Ask them to call up their parents for the information if they don't know much more than the usual stork story. Say to them not to put their names on the paper.

2. Gather the birth stories as the guests arrive.

3. Mix up the papers, and give one to each player.

4. Ask the first player to read the birth story he or she was given.

5. When the story is done, the participants must attempt to guess whose birth it was. It's fun to hear who made an extraordinary entry, who came out swiftly, who was born in the car or truck, who only weighed 5 pounds, and so on.

Variation:

As an alternative of asking guests to bring their birth stories, ask for their parent's phone numbers. Call the parents and ask for the birth stories, then read them at the party, and see if each player can recognize his or her own birth.
